Tuscaloosa Initiative for Language EducationThe Tuscaloosa Initiative for Language Education (TILE) aims to address the critical lack of language arts education in the Tuscaloosa area through student tutors who foster the natural ability of children to learn languages!
Through small-group tutoring in Spanish and French, TILE introduces students to the basics of each language, emphasizing simple vocabulary and cultural elements of the Spanish- and French-speaking worlds. Additionally, TILE hosts "Guest Speaker" days, wherein speakers and students of languages other than Spanish and French can hold a one-time lesson on a feature of the linguistics or culture(s) of the language. Past Guest Speakers have taught German, Chinese, Arabic, and ASL. If you are interested in volunteering with TILE, please contact Reagan Wesley using the email linked below. |
