Letter from the
Secretary-General

Dear Delegates and Advisors,

On behalf of the Alabama International Relations Club and the AIRMUNC Secretariat, it is a great honor to welcome you to the seventh iteration of AIRMUNC! AIRMUNC is the premier collegiate Model United Conference in the state of Alabama, held every fall here in Tuscaloosa on the campus of the University of Alabama. This year AIRMUNC will take place from October 1st to 4th.

As Secretary-General, I would like to thank the AIRC Executive Board, our faculty advisor Dr. Teresa Wise, the amazing students behind prior iterations of this conference, and the wonderful secretariat and staff of AIRMUNC VII, whose passion and dedication to this conference has been incredible! We are proud to carry on the tradition of AIRMUNC this year and I am excited to see their hard work pay off.

The theme for AIRMUNC VII is Change and Compromise. Together, we will experience the true meaning of collaboration on various stages. Whether amongst sororities, within a wooden horse, or even inside your own mind, we hope to spend our conference weekend feeling reminded of the strength in partnership.

AIRMUNC is committed to ensuring a conference environment free from harassment and bullying. Its staff is focused on promoting inclusion and equity, both in committee sessions and outside of debate. We aim to fulfill and exceed our commitment to the University of Alabama's Capstone Creed, and commit ourselves as individuals to tolerance, self-education, and personal responsibility in everything we do. Our staff are dedicated to fostering an atmosphere free from hostility, both at the individual level and with consideration for systemic discrimination and exclusion. AIRMUNC has a zero-tolerance policy for discrimination, harassment, and bullying of any kind. And we maintain our long-held commitment to foster a “fun, cool, and chill'' atmosphere in all conference operations. Remember, it takes a village!
We invite you to browse our website, Instagram, and LinkedIn pages for more information -- and to get to know our incredible staff. All platforms will continually be updated to reflect the most current information regarding conference logistics and substantive details. I am eagerly awaiting the opportunity to welcome all delegates to Tuscaloosa this fall, and I am resolute in assuring each and every one of you that you will have an enlightening, exhilarating, and unforgettable time at AIRMUNC VII.
